4 Benefits Of Using Emojis

Emojis are small digital icons used to express an idea or emotion in electronic communication … in other words, cute little icons that save us the trouble from having to type things out sometimes ????.

Emojis have been popular in Japan since the early 2000’s but it wasn’t until recent years that it became popular worldwide. When emojis first came out, there were the standard icons that was thought to be used popular enough, but as the years go by, they are continuing to add more and more emojis!

emoji benefits

Emojis have gone from having basic faces, foods, flags, to different faces (not just yellow faces anymore, there are now skin color options), different kinds of foods, and every flag you can think of. And according to multiple different sources, they are continuing to add more… am I the only who gets headaches while scrolling through the emojis list? ????.

My favorite emoji without a doubt is the new moon face ????.

There’s just something about this emoji that can be applied to almost anything! Whether you’re being a bit cheeky towards someone, have a question to ask, don’t have a way to reply to a question … or just … you know ????.

Here are our top four benefits of using emojis on social media.

1) Personal

Emojis help make messages more personal, since speaking to someone through technology does not allow you to hear each other’s voices (unless you’re voice noting of course… but emojis are more fun). They certainly help emphasize how the speaker is feeling,  personalizing your message with emojis helps give your friends or audience the feel you are trying to portray.

2) Encourages Engagement

The emojis you use give a sense of what you are bringing to the table. Companies who are active on social media and use emojis allow their customers/audience to have a better understanding as to what their tweet, facebook post, etc… is about by just getting a glance at the emojis. As companies are often recognized as a formal environment, emojis in their social media help customers engage more with the brand, tweet/Instagram/Facebook any comments, concerns or things they loved about the company. When customers are engaged with companies, it generally helps benefits the company.

3) Helps Represent Emotions

As the point of communicating is to share information, whether it be textual or verbal – when there is not emotions it can easily be misconstructed. As we often look for emotional cues when communicating with others, when one has a conversation with someone and they speak very dry and/or monotone, people often get the idea that there is something wrong. This is not saying if you don’t use emojis people are assuming something is wrong, but when being social emojis genuinely help bring out emotions!

4) Don’t take up a lot of space

Emojis are AMAZING for social sites such as Twitter. Since tweets only allow 140 characters, emojis help you say what you need to say, what you want to say, all under 140 characters! This doesn’t apply for Twitter only, sometimes emojis can just say what you can’t. I think it’s safe to say you can see the emotional attachment to emojis …????.
